Janet comes to North Port after 30 years experience as the Director of Learning Services for the Broward County Library System where she designed learning services and programs for all ages.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Ohio State University and her MLIS from the University of South Florida.
Janet has completed over one thousand hours postgraduate training in brain-friendly learning and teaching. She has been certified as a supervising trainer in literacy, ESL and accelerated learning and is a national level presenter and trainer.
Janet leads our Peer Power program which meets on Saturday mornings.
Janet has a daughter and two granddaughters living in Ohio.

Shana joined the North Port Library in 2006, bringing several years of experience working with children. Before she came to North Port, she was a children’s librarian in a small town in northern Wisconsin.
She has a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
In Dubuque, Iowa, Shana joined the AmeriCorps program tutoring elementary school children.
In 2002, she was honored by The Governor of Iowa for her dedication to volunteer work.
A graduate of the First Stage Theater Academy in Milwaukee, Shana plans on establishing a Drama Club at the North Port Library. She currently leads the Story Tree program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Shana is married to Andrew and has a teenage son named Gabriel.
